Joel Enters BE90 Cross Country

Llanmynech XC

Very exciting – my horse Joel Enters BE90 Cross Country at Llanymanech! As many of you know my little pocket rocket used to fly around BE100’s and even qualified for Grassroots a couple of years ago! But then we had a near miss on the XC and he really hurt his back and his confidence plummeted, so he’s been chilling and dressaging for a couple of seasons now.

I’ve gradually taken him out for a few practices and although he starts out a bit nervous he seems back to his old self and tanking me into all the fences! I’m going to keep him in 90’s now and just have fun! There’s no pressure on him, I know he’s more than capable of jumping far bigger tracks but he doesn’t need to prove that to me or anyone!

The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy our horses, and not put so much pressure on them or ourselves and I remind my clients of this everyday! Especially if it is just your hobby.

I enjoy all aspects, from taking babies to their first show or to the more serious competitions with my advanced Dressage horse – Darla. Whom I am lucky enough to be sponsored with by Sophie Anderson Mctimoney. Horses are never going to be perfect and we have to accept the highs with the lows, yes Joel is capable of more but we’re both going out and enjoying it and that’s what’s most important!
